In a horrifying turn of events in Rock Hill, South Carolina, an 18-year-old male was shot in the head in the parking lot of a local McDonald’s outlet. The shooting incident took place around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, leaving the young victim battling for life, while the shooter is currently on the run.
As reported by the Rock Hill Police Department, officers were dispatched to the McDonald’s at 115 South Cherry Road in response to the shooting. On arrival, the officers found the victim with a gunshot wound to his head. He was rapidly transported to a local hospital, where he is currently in a critical condition and on life-sustaining medical care. The atmosphere at the crime scene was heavy with shock and disbelief over the tragic event.
Officers were able to piece together some details of the incident from the scene and witness accounts. The victim was reportedly talking to some individuals in a parked vehicle when the incident took place. Following what seemed like a casual conversation, one of the subjects in the vehicle unexpectedly opened fire, striking the victim in the head, causing him to collapse onto the lot’s pavement.
The shooting left onlookers terrified and overwhelmed. The assailants then fled the scene immediately post the shooting, leaving the victim in the dire condition. According to the police, the assailants are believed to be in a grey midsize SUV.
The Rock Hill Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has since taken over the case. As of now, the investigation is ongoing, and the suspects remain at large. Officers are gathering evidence and calling on the public to provide any information they may have about the incident or the suspects.
