Exciting Start to the 2024 Wyoming High School Football Season with Surprising Outcomes and Undefeated Teams

Casper, Wyoming – As the 2024 Wyoming High School Football season unfolds, most teams are already getting into the swing of things. With just one team yet to play an official game, the season is off to an exciting start. Some teams have already played two games, and so far, there have been some surprising outcomes.

Ten of the top-ranked teams experienced a loss early in the season, but noteworthy is that seven of those defeats occurred against other ranked opponents. This season, Sheridan has shown impressive form by extending its winning streak to two games. Meanwhile, a total of twenty-four teams remain undefeated, showcasing the competitive spirit across the state.

In the standings released as of September 7, 2024, there are several teams that have emerged at the top of their respective conferences:

  • East Conference: Campbell County (2-0), Cheyenne East (2-0), Natrona County (2-0), and Sheridan (2-0)
  • West Conference: Star Valley (2-0) followed by others including Cody (1-0) and Evanston (1-1)

On the flip side, teams like Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne South, and Laramie are still looking for their first wins, each holding a record of 0-2. Teams that had game-like scenarios in Week 0 are still categorized as scrimmages, and thus do not factor into their official records.

As teams gear up for the upcoming weeks, the excitement of high school football in Wyoming is palpable. Coaches and players know that each game brings the chance to improve their standings and solidify their position in the playoff race.
