Texas Takes Top Spot in AP Poll

Fast forward to 2024, and the Longhorns are making a comeback with a perfect record of 3-0, including a significant road win against a top-10 opponent just two weeks ago.
The Longhorns managed to leapfrog over Georgia, which narrowly beat an unranked Kentucky team by just a single point in their last game. Texas has impressed fans and critics alike with an offensive performance that seems unstoppable, regardless of whether quarterback Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning is leading the charge.
In addition to Texas’s rise, the AP Poll also shows some shuffling in the rankings. Kansas State made a significant leap to the No. 13 spot after defeating the then-No. 20 Arizona. Oklahoma State fell just behind them at No. 14, while No. 12 Utah held steady in its position. Week 3 was relatively calm in terms of major upsets, with only two teams ranked in the top 25—Arizona and Boston College—losing to higher-ranked opponents. This resulted in No. 24 Illinois and No. 25 Texas A&M jumping into the rankings. Illinois, with a record of 3-0, secured a significant win against ranked Kansas two weeks ago and most recently topped Central Michigan.
