He loaded up a trailer with much-needed supplies and hit the road to deliver them to Black Mountain, where the storm had wreaked havoc. “The roads were rough, and the reality of the storm’s impact was evident,” said Chief Hasty. “There were signs of homes washed away right beside the roads.”

Earlier, Hasty had received a message from a fellow police chief, asking for help. Chief Parker from Tega Cay reached out to share the urgent needs of his community which was encountering severe difficulties in getting essential supplies. “Their community has been devastated,” Hasty recalled. This request for assistance united the departments in their drive to alleviate the struggles faced by those impacted.
