High School Sports Thriving in Minneapolis: Key Performances and Upcoming Tournaments

Minneapolis, MN – The high school sports scene is buzzing with excitement as many teams are making their mark in various sports this week. In football, local teams are gearing up for their upcoming games while adapting to new strategies to enhance their chances moving forward.

Meanwhile, the cross-country highlights were notable at Highland National Golf Course where the boys’ Class 3A Section 4 saw Stillwater come out on top, earning a spot in the state meet with a strong score of 30. Key individual performances included Dylan Rinkier, clocking in at 15:55.7, firmly placing him among the leaders.

The Two Rivers team also asserted their presence by taking 47 points, showcasing outstanding runners like Lucas Esten, who finished with a time of 16:15.6. White Bear Lake impressed with individual qualifiers, proving their depth and skill across the board.

In the girls’ cross-country, White Bear Lake also shone brightly, securing their spot in the state meet with a team score of 58. Their top finisher, Logan Bailey, completed the course in 18:43.1. Close competition came from St. Paul Central, who followed closely with a score of 60, edging out Two Rivers in a tight tie-breaker.

Shifting to soccer, excitement filled the stands as the Mpls. Washburn boys’ team dominated Bemidji, winning 3-0 in the Class 3A state tournament quarterfinals. Over in girls’ soccer, the Edina team had a commanding performance, crushing Duluth East with a decisive 5-0 win.

As the week continues, all eyes are on these teams as they aim to advance further in their respective tournaments. With every game bringing new challenges and opportunities, the excitement of high school sports remains vibrant across Minneapolis and St. Paul.
