Community Events Highlight the Spirit of Waxhaw and Surrounding Areas

Waxhaw, NC – The local community is coming together with a variety of events that bring residents of all ages together to celebrate art, honor veterans, and engage in important health initiatives this November.

Veterans Art Show Invites Local Artists

Artists who have served in the military are encouraged to participate in the November Veterans Art Show. Sculptor Peter Rubino is reaching out to veterans who create art to showcase their work. Interested veterans can contact Karen Johnson at 704-698-8920 or visit the Mule Barn Mercantile located at 121 S. Broome St., Waxhaw. This initiative aims to highlight the creative expressions of those who have served the nation and foster community support.

Wreath Dedication Ceremony Honors Revolutionary War Soldier

A wreath dedication ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. on November 3 at Double S Ranch, situated at 7206 S. Providence Road, Waxhaw. This solemn event will honor the contributions of John Foster, a Revolutionary War soldier, with the dedication of a new Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) marker. Community members are invited to attend this meaningful tribute to local history.

Blood Drives to Support Regional Hospitals

In a critical effort to meet the region’s blood supply needs, several blood drives are scheduled throughout the area:

  • November 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Team Church, 2301 Stevens Mill Road, Matthews
  • November 5 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at New American Red Cross Chapter Monroe, 125 Pedro St., Suite E, Monroe
  • November 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Monroe Aquatic Center, 2325 Hanover Drive, Monroe

Residents can also donate at the Indian Trail Blood Donor Center, 5880 W. U.S. 74, Suite 204. For further information regarding blood donation hours, individuals are encouraged to visit RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS for assistance.

Weekly and Monthly Community Activities

Waxhaw offers several recurring gatherings to foster community spirit:

  • The Wingate Farmers Market operates every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. through November 14 at Wingate University, located at the corner of Main and Wilson Streets in Wingate.
  • The Unionville Veterans Coffee House is set for 8:30 a.m. on November 19 at Sam F. Keziah American Legion Post 535, 6112 Concord Highway, Unionville.
  • The Council on Aging Care & Share Support Group holds in-person meetings at 10:15 a.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 1401 Skyway Drive, Monroe.

Upcoming Veterans Dedication Ceremony

A special Veterans dedication ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on November 12 at the Veterans Wall of Honor, located at 109 E. North Main St., Waxhaw. This ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by veterans in service to their country.
