Exciting Week Ahead for Arlington High School Sports
This week in Arlington, high school sports teams gear up for a busy schedule filled with playoff events. However, there will be no football games involving Arlington teams on Friday night, November 1. This is due to the observance of a no-play date for Fairfax County schools in honor of the Diwali Hindu festival.
Instead, fans can look forward to a full day of football on Saturday, November 2, as Arlington schools take on Fairfax teams. The football matches include:
- Bishop O’Connell at Bishop Ireton at noon
- Wakefield at McLean at 1 p.m.
- Washington-Liberty at Langley at 4 p.m.
- Marshall at Yorktown at 5 p.m.
But that’s not all! Other sports are also in action this weekend. The Washington Catholic Athletic Conference finals are taking place at Catholic University, featuring:
- Boys Soccer at noon
- Girls Soccer at 2:30 p.m.
- Girls Volleyball at 6 p.m.
In field hockey, teams will compete in the 6D North Region semifinals. Matchups include Washington-Liberty at Oakton and Madison at Yorktown, both kicking off at 7 p.m. Also, the Washington-Liberty ice hockey team will face off against West Springfield at the Prince William Ice Center at 9:15 p.m.
Cross-country enthusiasts can catch the 6D North Region championship meet on Saturday at Burke Lake Park, starting at 2 p.m., where Washington-Liberty and Yorktown will compete in both girls and boys categories. Furthermore, O’Connell will participate in the private school state meet at Panorama Farms near Charlottesville, set for 10 a.m. on the same day.
This weekend promises plenty of action for sports fans in Arlington, from football to volleyball, and more! Be sure to check out the games and cheer for your favorite teams!
