Pottstown Celebrates Hill School’s Undefeated Field Hockey Season
In Pottstown, the Hill School field hockey team has made headlines by completing an undefeated season with a 5-1 victory over the No. 3 ranked Academy of Notre Dame. This exciting game took place on Tuesday night at Ursinus College, concluding the Pa. Independent Schools Athletic Association championship. With this win, Hill School finishes the season with a perfect record of 22-0.
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Katherine Bowie, the Hill School took to the field with determination. The match was crucial as it was a rematch of last year’s PAISAA title game, where Notre Dame emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win. However, this time, the Blues were ready to seize the opportunity.
The game saw a pivotal shift in the second half. After a competitive first half, Hill School came out strong, scoring four unanswered goals. The first step towards victory was taken by senior Ella Kaplan from Shaker Heights, Ohio. With an assist from sophomore Haley Elliott from Blue Bell, Kaplan netted the first goal to give Hill the lead.
Following that, senior Aubrey Turner from Downingtown scored off a corner play, and then she assisted junior Opal Sparling from Chester Springs for another goal, stretching the score to 4-1. Kaplan then capped off the scoring in the fourth quarter, sealing an impressive win for the Blues. This championship victory marks Hill School’s second state prep title, with the first one achieved in 2022.
With their hard work and teamwork, the Hill School field hockey team has not only made their school proud but also set a remarkable example of perseverance and dedication on the field.
