Carowinds Set to Unveil Record-Breaking Water Ride in 2026

Charlotte, N.C. — Major plans are underway at Carowinds as the amusement park prepares to introduce a “record-breaking” water ride in 2026. This announcement came from Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, the park’s parent company, which aims to significantly enhance guest experiences over the next two years as part of a $1 billion investment.

Details of the New Ride Still Under Wraps

While excitement builds around the forthcoming water ride, Six Flags has yet to reveal specific details regarding its design or features. However, the announcement marks an ambitious future for Carowinds, which is also set to add other attractions in the near term.

Upcoming Projects for the Park

In addition to the water ride, Carowinds announced plans for two new attractions in the Camp Snoopy section, expected to debut in 2025. Among these additions is a family-friendly roller coaster that promises to cater to guests of all ages. Enhancements will also include new splash play zones and a unique camp store that will serve as a meet-and-greet spot for fans of the beloved “Peanuts” characters.

Commitment to Guest Experience

Richard A. Zimmerman, President and CEO of Six Flags, emphasized the company’s dedication to creating memorable experiences at their parks. “Our capital investment plans for the next two years reinforce our commitment to providing unmatched thrills, immersive entertainment, and lifelong memories to guests of all ages,” he stated in a recent press release.

New Benefits for Season Pass Holders

Moreover, starting from January 6, 2025, Carowinds season pass holders will gain access to Six Flags parks, enhancing value for frequent visitors. This premium season pass add-on includes benefits such as free parking and entry into all legacy Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks, along with additional perks for those visiting Cedar Fair locations.

Company Background and Merger

The developments at Carowinds follow the merger of its former parent company, Cedar Fair, with Six Flags, completed in July 2024. The new entity operates a vast portfolio, consisting of 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks, and nine resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Significant Investments for Future Attractions

Looking ahead, Six Flags has earmarked $500 million for enhancements in 2025, followed by an additional $525 million in 2026. These funds will help to develop new rides, attractions, themed areas, improved dining facilities, and technological advancements.

Vision for Family Entertainment

Zimmerman expressed optimism about the future of Six Flags parks, stating, “The new Six Flags has a unique opportunity to refresh and renew the guest experience, one so compelling that a visit to one of our parks will be viewed as an indispensable choice in family entertainment.”

Conclusion

As the anticipation builds for Carowinds’ upcoming developments, guests can look forward to a more thrilling and enjoyable experience. The upcoming water ride and attractions promise to elevate the park’s status as a premier destination for family fun and excitement.
