High School Football Playoff Recap from Kansas City
This week in Kansas City, high school football playoffs brought some thrilling games as teams vied for a spot in the next round. Friday night kicked off with Class 6 quarterfinal action that saw some close contests. Notable was Nixa’s narrow win over Lee’s Summit North with a final score of 21 to 20, showing just how intense these playoff games can be. On the other hand, Kirkwood defeated Jackson 45-35 in another exciting game.
Looking ahead, Saturday’s Class 6 quarterfinals will feature Park Hill taking on Liberty and De Smet facing Columbia Rock Bridge, both at 1 p.m.
In Class 5, Platte County made a strong statement by dominating Webb City with a score of 35 to 0. MICDS followed up with a decisive victory against Fort Zumwalt West, winning 49 to 3. Saturday’s contests will see Lafayette (Wildwood) play against Cardinal Ritter, and Helias Catholic compete with Republic, both scheduled for 1 p.m.
In Class 4, Kearney triumphed over Warrensburg with a score of 49 to 14. This week’s action continues with several other quarterfinal matches including Lutheran North at Parkway North and Festus at Gateway STEM.
In 8-man football district championships, Bishop LeBlond edged out Rock Port with a nail-biting score of 60 to 54. Looking forward, further matches will take place Saturday including Lockwood with Golden City at Archie.
