Rock Hill, South Carolina, has officially launched Storyline, a new urban linear park designed to enhance the connectivity of the downtown area. This park, unlike any other in the city, aims not just for recreational space but also as a storytelling mechanism that highlights the city’s history and growth. The announcement was made on Tuesday by city officials who emphasized the park’s integral role as the “spine of our downtown area.”

Storyline will stretch approximately two miles, connecting key locations such as Winthrop University and Fountain Park. The park is conceived as an urban linear park, akin to successful projects like the High Line in New York City and the BeltLine in Atlanta. Why is Storyline Important?
Former city manager Joe Lanford described Storyline as vital for the downtown’s development. The city has secured a record $10 million federal grant for the pedestrian bridge, in addition to a $25,000 donation from Comporium to help hire a consultant for further planning.
