High School Sports Update from Lafayette
Last night was a big night for the Lady Lions as they took on Opelousas High in girls’ basketball. The team delivered a strong performance, securing a decisive 66-36 victory. This win sets the stage for them to compete in their final game of the Southside Tournament, which is scheduled for Saturday morning at 9 AM. Fans are encouraged to come out and show their support for the Lady Lions as they look to finish the tournament on a high note.
The excitement continued in the world of soccer, where the Lady Lions varsity team also had a fantastic game against Catholic Senior High, winning with an impressive score of 4-0. Talented players Brea Bailey and Haylan Chapman each found the net twice, showcasing their skills on the field. The junior varsity squad also enjoyed a win, defeating their opponents 1-0, with a goal from Quentizicalli contributing to the team’s success. Well done, Lady Lions!
In wrestling news, the boys and girls teams were active during the Thanksgiving break, competing in a total of five tournaments and bringing home an impressive 44 medals. The girls claimed the top spot at both the Dutchtown and East Ascension tournaments, while the boys finished in second place at the same events. This weekend, both teams will be competing again at Brusly, Acadiana, and Rayne, and we wish them the best of luck!
