Pittsburgh High School Sports Heat Up as Teams Prepare for Competitive Matchups

In Pittsburgh, high school sports are in full swing as teams get ready for another exciting week. On Monday, a series of boys’ high school basketball games are set to take place across various classes. For those looking to attend, a few key matchups include the Class 5A Section 1 game where Penn Hills will face off against Franklin Regional and Plum taking on Armstrong, both starting at 7:30 p.m..

The Class 3A matchup highlights Ellwood City squaring off against Riverside, also kicking off at 7:30 p.m.. Fans can expect some fierce competition as teams are eager to secure valuable wins early in the season. Additionally, there are various nonsection games, including Brownsville challenging Monessen at 7 p.m. and California taking on Charleroi at 7:30 p.m..

As for the girls’ teams, Sunday saw some close contests. North Allegheny fell short against Avon Lake of Ohio, losing 54-42, while Seneca Valley celebrated a victory over Conwell-Egan with a final score of 49-42. North Catholic also took a narrow win against Bishop O’Connell (Va.) by just two points, finishing 54-52.

Looking ahead, the upcoming wrestling match between Freedom and Beth-Center will showcase more local talent starting at 7 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, hockey fans can enjoy a few matches too, including Pine-Richland battling Franklin Regional at 6:30 p.m..
