Springs Creative Breaks Records with Acquisition of Frank Cassata Archives, Establishes Industry’s Largest Ever Design Archive in Rock Hill

Springs Creative Acquisition Creates Largest Design Archive in Industry History in Rock Hill

Springs Creative Makes History with Record-Breaking Acquisition

Springs Creative, a leading international home furnishings company, has made history with its recent acquisition of the Frank Cassata Archives. This remarkable development leads to the creation of the most extensive design archive ever seen in the design sector.

According to the company’s press release, this monumental acquisition further solidifies Springs Creative’s already strong standing in the industry and its collaboration with Baxter Mill Archive Design Center as the prime hub for artistic inspiration and innovation.

The Impacts of the Frank Cassata Archives Acquisition

The Frank Cassata Archives, renowned for its diverse range of unique designs that bridge from conventional to modern, apparels, home décor archives, and over 700 collections of fabric and wallpaper swatches, will significantly enhance the Baxter Mill Archive Design Center’s current offerings.

The acquisition allows the Center to house over one million documents, textiles, fabrics, and creative works, including valued collections from the erstwhile Springs Global archives such as Springmaid, Wamsutta, Lowenstein, Concord House, and Daisy Kingdom. The Center also possesses collections from its previous acquisitions, The Ilene Danchig and Alicia Messina Studio Archives.

“Including Frank’s extraordinary assortment provides us access to over a million designs,” said Derick Close, CEO and Chairman of Springs Creative. The Company’s dedication to offering customers an opportunity to directly engage with experienced textile designers and artists is reflected by the Baxter Mill Archive Design Center.

The Future of Springs Creative Post-Acquisition

Frank Cassata, the man behind the collection, will serve as a consultant to Springs Creative. Frank, who started collecting textiles as a hobby in the ’90s after a career in architecture and interior design, travel and culinary arts, is excited to share his extensive collection and knowledge with Springs Creative and its wider audience through design presentations, and by helping to set up the collection in its new home.

The Baxter Mill Archive Design Center is eagerly envisioned as an “inspiration destination” located at the heart of Rock Hill at the new “The Thread” complex. Here, designers will have access to a plethora of resources that will nurture their creative ideas and broaden their horizons on what’s possible.

Kathy Phillips, Baxter Mill Archive Design Center’s Chief Curator, explains how one can design their collection in the morning, make use of the Center’s creative services and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) technology in the afternoon, and exit with production-ready files, or opt to have the state-of-the-art textile digital printing operations put those designs on fabric by the following day.
