Police: 18 cars broken into at Charlotte hospital parking deck
Charlotte, N.C. – June 18, 2024
Eighteen cars were broken into at Atrium Health Main’s parking deck on Saturday morning, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police reports. The break-ins occurred around 3:15 a.m. at the Blythe Boulevard location. Police reports indicated that two unknown suspects broke into several vehicles, with 19 victims listed in total. Stolen items included purses, computer hardware, sunglasses, cash, and tablets.
Atrium Health’s Response
Atrium Health officials issued a statement expressing disappointment at the incident and condemning the exploitation of patients, visitors, and healthcare workers. They emphasized the importance of remaining vigilant and taking precautions to protect oneself and property in any environment. The statement also highlighted the presence of a well-trained security staff at all Atrium Health hospitals, including Carolinas Medical Center, and the utilization of an extensive network of cameras across the campus.
The healthcare provider assured cooperation with law enforcement in providing information and evidence to assist in identifying and prosecuting the individuals responsible for the break-ins.
