Atrium Health Statement

Atrium Health officials released a statement regarding the incident: “It is disappointing that individuals would take advantage of patients and their visitors by breaking into their vehicle during some of the most vulnerable moments of life, as well as our dedicated health care workers. Unfortunately, crime happens throughout each community, and it is essential everyone remains aware of their surroundings and take precautions to protect themselves and their property, regardless of where they go. Atrium Health employs a well-trained security staff at all of our hospitals, including Carolinas Medical Center. Despite our diligence, it is impossible to be everywhere at all times. We have an extensive network of cameras across our campus and, in instances like this, our teams work closely with law enforcement to provide as much information and evidence as possible to assist them in identifying and prosecuting those who prey on others.”
