With the opening of a new Chex Grill & Wings location in the vibrant city of Rock Hill last week, residents can expect an eclectic mix of dishes. The finger-licking flavor combinations on the menu owe their success not just to the wings but also to the imaginative line-up of distinctive sauces that has driven the Charlotte-based restaurant’s exponential growth. The new site, nestled comfortably off Dave Lyle Boulevard, is anticipated to duplicate the financial success of its sister outlets, with over 60% to 70% of revenue anticipated to be derived from wings and sauces alone.
The Secret Sauce to Success
Yaman Rawashdah, district manager of Chex Grill & Wings, puts their steady voyage to the zenith down to an unyielding commitment to maintaining high standards across the board. Rawashdah, who is at the helm of all 15 locations, consistently stresses on the impeccable preparation of every item they sell. Observing the immediacy of customer feedback in the restaurant business, he asserts, “It doesn’t matter how many we sell of each item, we make sure those are being prepared in the perfect way.”
A Game of Flavors
The main course leading the sales — chicken wings, owes its popularity to the wide range of creative flavors whipped up by the owner Khaled Shamma. Shuffling past the mediocre line-up of standard buffalo and BBQ, Shamma ventured into the uncharted territory of fruit-inspired sauces. What followed was a strawberry hot sauce that has since become a customer favorite. The innovative menu includes other fruity variants like apple hot, pina colada, and spicy mango. Every four to five months, the company tests a new sauce among customers. If it resonates with the masses, it secures a permanent spot on the menu; if not, it’s back to the sauce lab!

Apart from their sassy wings, Chex Grill & Wings also features sub sandwiches, burgers, wraps and salads along with appetizers, sides, and a heavenly selection of cakes for dessert.
Future Expansion Plans
The Dave Lyle Boulevard addition is the third Chex Grill & Wings outlet to spring up in York County. Before the close of the year, another five locations are slated to debut – one in Columbia, South Carolina, two in North Carolina (Indian Trail and Raleigh) and two in Nashville, Tennessee.
