Sarasota and Manatee Counties Kick Off Thrilling High School Football Season

As the sun sets on another summer, Sarasota and Manatee County are buzzing with excitement for the start of the high school football season. This week, local programs join teams from across Florida, stepping onto the gridiron for what will be another thrilling year of high school football.

The area’s SSAA (Suncoast Sports Alliance) teams are gearing up for their regular-season schedules, while FHSAA (Florida High School Athletic Association) teams are warming up with preseason games, setting the stage for an action-packed season kickoff next week.

On Friday night, the excitement surged as results from various games rolled in. Among the highlights, Cardinal Mooney triumphed over Booker with a score of 45-32. Sarasota celebrated a solid win against Brandon, outscoring them 14-8. Not to be outdone, Venice showcased their skills with a convincing 34-19 victory over Gadsden County.

Other notable games included Port Charlotte defeating Riverview 37-12, Lakewood Ranch shutting out DeSoto County 30-0, and Manatee dominating Hillsborough with a remarkable 40-0 scoreline. North Port also edged past Moore Haven, finishing strong at 14-12.
