Tennessee High School Football Rankings Kick Off 2024 Season with Intense Competition

In Tennessee, the exciting 2024 TSSAA football season has officially begun, with the release of the first statewide high school rankings. This week, sports writers from across the state have come together to provide rankings for teams in Division I and Division II. The rankings reflect each team’s performance and potential as they head into the season.

In the Division I rankings, South Pittsburg leads the pack with an impressive 96 points, boosted by six first-place votes. Close behind is McKenzie with 93 points, receiving four first-place votes. Dresden holds the third position with 66 points, followed by Union City with 49 points, and Oliver Springs at 48 points. Notably, Coalfield and Gordonsville are tied for sixth with 47 points each.

Switching to Division II, East Robertson shares the spotlight with 96 points, also backed by six first-place votes. Riverside ranks second with 85 points, followed by Huntingdon in third with 68 points. Fairley and Marion County are tied for fourth with 63 points each. Smith County rounds out the top six with 56 points.

In another category, the Alcoa team is dominating with 100 points, having received all 10 first-place votes. They are followed by East Nashville with 83 points and Dyersburg with 79 points. Covington and Giles County are also in the mix, holding fourth and fifth places respectively.

As the football season progresses, teams will continue to compete fiercely for top rankings. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming games and the potential shifts in these standings. Each week, the rankings will be updated, adding more excitement to an already thrilling season.
