Texas High School Football Gears Up for Another Exciting Season
The vibrant city of Dallas is buzzing with excitement as high school football teams across Texas prepare to kick off the 2024 season. With nearly 20 teams gaining a shot at a state championship each year, the competition is fierce. This includes 12 public schools, four TAPPS 11-man teams, and a pair of SPC programs, making Texas a hotbed for high school football talent.
Many fans often find themselves wondering how teams from various classes would match up if they met on the field. While a showdown between Division I and II champions may not occur, there’s certainly a lot of chatter about how different classes might fare against one another.
As part of the Dallas area, over 150 schools are included in the coverage, featuring most of the competitive 6A and 5A programs within a 40-mile radius of downtown. The two dozen private schools and smaller classified teams add even more flavor to this high school sports flagship.
As the season approaches, a team of dedicated sports reporters has compiled their own Power Rankings for the second consecutive year. This list showcases the top 100 teams heading into 2024. It’s important to note that this isn’t merely a ranking of strength. Some teams might find themselves missing playoff opportunities in one class while making deep runs in another. The rankings are meant to provide insight into how teams measure up against each other, taking into account factors like last year’s record, historic achievements, and their 2024 preseason rankings.
Fans and followers of the sport are encouraged to share their thoughts on these rankings, as the rankings will be revisited midway through the season. Keep an eye on upcoming schedules, standings, and district predictions for classes 6A, 5A, and 4A, as well as private players to watch. Excitement is building, and the time for Texas high school football is just around the corner!
