Rock Hill is set to welcome an innovative new dining establishment called Adventurer’s Table, which aims to merge full-service restaurant offerings with immersive tabletop gaming experiences. Scheduled to open in early 2024, this unique venture is spearheaded by husband-and-wife team, Zachary and Carrie Schwehr.
At Adventurer’s Table, diners will step into a Renaissance fantasy tavern atmosphere. The Schwehrs want guests to feel as though they have entered a different world the moment they walk through the door. Although the menu is still being designed, it is expected to feature a range of options such as smashburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, and diverse finger foods from around the globe. There will also be vegan choices and a dedicated kids menu, in addition to both alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixed drinks.
A standout feature of Adventurer’s Table is its focus on gaming. The restaurant will host around 40 to 50 tables specifically designed for tabletop games, ranging from strategy to fantasy genres. Customers will have access to over 300 board games, with new selections introduced every quarter. The venue will welcome both seasoned players and those unfamiliar with board games, as the staff will consist of gaming experts to assist with gameplay and rules.
Guests are encouraged to stay for extended periods, with the restaurant’s concept focusing on community and interaction. Colored cards placed on tables will signal staff to assist with orders or gameplay needs, ensuring minimal interruptions during gaming sessions. “We’re very much about how do we get people in and how do we keep them in?” Zachary stated, emphasizing the restaurant’s desire to foster a welcoming environment.
Adventurer’s Table will be located at the former site of Mellow Mushroom and Wild Wing Cafe, situated in front of the Regal Manchester movie theater. This location was chosen to create a family-friendly space where visitors can enjoy both dining and entertainment. With the goal of creating a comfortable gathering place, Carrie expressed their hope that families would feel encouraged to spend quality time together in the restaurant.
The Schwehrs, both long-time gaming fans, are excited to introduce a concept that they believe is lacking in the Rock Hill area. “We really want families to feel like they can come and hang out,” Carrie noted. With their vision of combining dining with engaging gameplay, Adventurer’s Table aims to become a new favorite spot for the community.
As anticipation builds for the grand opening, Rock Hill residents can look forward to an experience that transcends traditional dining—a place where food and fun can be enjoyed simultaneously.
