Charlotte Firm Moves to New Headquarters, Aiming for Growth

Charlotte, NC – In a significant move for local business development, American Engineering has officially relocated its headquarters to a new office space in the Ballantyne area. This engineering firm, which currently employs about 30 people, has taken occupancy of 10,850 square feet at the Everett Building located at 11525 N. Community House Road.

Details of the Move

The company signed an eight-year lease for the new space, which was formerly the corporate headquarters for Extended Stay America. This transition comes after a decade of growth at their previous location at 8008 Corporate Center Drive, where they expanded at least four times during their stay.

Future Growth Plans

According to Scott Stone, the president and CEO of American Engineering, this new headquarters is more than just an upgrade; it positions the company for long-term success. Stone stated, “It’s a step up from what our staff was in (before) and will help position us for the long term. We certainly want to at least double in size over the next few years and continue to grow as a company.”

The firm has also secured a right-of-first-refusal on the space next door, which could further facilitate future expansion.

Features of the New Location

The Everett Building is a six-story structure covering approximately 154,000 square feet. It is part of Northwood Office’s expansive Ballantyne campus, which boasts around 4.5 million square feet of Class A office space, as well as medical offices, hotels, public parks, multifamily housing, and the mixed-use development known as The Bowl at Ballantyne.

Stone expressed enthusiasm about the location, emphasizing the proximity to The Bowl and its anticipated benefits. “We think the improvements made with all the new restaurants and retail at The Bowl, as well as the activity there, will be a real positive for our employees and will be a draw for future recruitment,” he noted. He is optimistic about the timing of the move, as many amenities and restaurants in the area are either open or set to open soon, ramping up to full speed.

The relocation was facilitated by New South Properties’ Kenny Smith and Holly Alexander, who represented American Engineering in the transaction. On the other side, Northwood Office’s Mary McClure, Kate Urey, and Elizabeth Newman represented the landlord in the deal.
