APPLETON – In an exciting night of high school volleyball action, the Appleton North Lightning showcased remarkable talent in their win over the Spartans with set scores of 25-16, 25-10, 25-18. Coach Steve Scheuerell praised his team’s performance, stating, “Our girls played well tonight and served well.” Leading the Lightning were standout players like Chloe North, who had five digs and five aces, and Teegan Charapata, who contributed with 10 kills and three aces.
In another match, the Hortonville Ghosts overwhelmed the Polar Bears with a strong showing, winning 25-13, 25-19, 25-21. Key players included Madison Tripp with 24 assists, and Brenna Matthies who contributed three aces and eight digs. The Ghosts demonstrated solid teamwork as Bo Kaschner also brought in five aces and 10 digs to solidify their victory.
The Kimberly Wildcats took on the Papermakers in a thrilling match that went to five sets. The Wildcats emerged victorious with 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 30-28, 15-12 scores. Coach Carrie Raminger commented, “I am so proud of how hard both of the teams worked in this crazy five-set match.” Notable performances included Ava Van Camp with 30 digs and Emma Tesch with 32 assists.
Meanwhile, the Xavier Hawks continued their impressive streak with a convincing sweep over the Thunder, winning 25-12, 25-11, 25-8. Sydney Neilitz led the effort with 22 assists, while Grace Hackl secured 14 digs and four aces.
Over in Fox Crossing, the St. Mary Catholic Zephyrs triumphed over the Panthers with a score of 23-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-8. Ava Rankin and Sami Weiss led their team with strong performances, recording 11 digs and 19 assists, respectively.
In the boys’ soccer matches, the Hortonville Polar Bears displayed solid teamwork, with Roman Glad leading the way with two goals in a win against the Patriots. Meanwhile, the Oshkosh North Papermakers defeated the Spartans, highlighted by a standout performance from Brodie Hemmersbach who scored twice in the match.
With plenty of exciting moments on the field, the area high school sports scene continues to deliver thrilling performances as teams work hard in their respective competitions.
