Arlington High Schools Gear Up for a Busy Week of Sports
This week is shaping up to be an exciting one for high school sports in Arlington, with three big football games set for Friday night, October 18. Local teams are all prepared to hit the field under the Friday night lights.
The matchups include Yorktown taking on Langley at 7 p.m., while Wakefield will face off against Marshall, also at 7 p.m. Bishop O’Connell will be on the road to play St. Mary’s Ryken, where kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Many will be out to support their teams, adding excitement to the atmosphere.
In addition to football, there are also other sporting events throughout the week. The Liberty District girls field hockey tournament is gearing up, and the Virginia High School League’s Girls State Open golf tournament will feature Arlington girls competing in a qualifying event in Clifton on Saturday morning.
Cross country teams from Arlington schools are ready for the Virginia showcase meet, with Bishop O’Connell and Washington-Liberty both participating at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
In girls soccer, there are several matches scheduled, including Bishop O’Connell traveling to Good Counsel at 4 p.m. and Washington-Liberty visiting McLean at 7 p.m. Other athletic activities like girls volleyball and girls tennis are also on the schedule, promising excitement for fans and players alike.
