Arlington High Schools Wrap Up Football Season with Exciting Matchups

This week in Arlington, high school sports action is winding down as the regular football season comes to an end. Many teams have concluded their fall seasons, but a few are gearing up for crucial final games and playoff action.

On Friday night, November 8, the spotlight will be on the hosting Wakefield Warriors as they face off against the Washington-Liberty Generals in an all-Arlington rivalry game. This matchup promises to be a thrilling contest as both teams look to finish the season on a high note.

The excitement doesn’t stop there! On Saturday, November 9, the Bishop O’Connell Knights will go head-to-head with St. Paul VI Catholic at noon, while the Yorktown Patriots will take on Herndon at 1 p.m. Fans can expect some intense action on the field during these final games.

While football heats up, the ice hockey season is also in full swing for Washington-Liberty, who have a game scheduled against West Potomac. This matchup is set to take place at the Prince William Ice Center at 6:40 p.m.

Additionally, the volleyball scene is buzzing as the Bishop O’Connell team competes in the Division I state private school championship match at The Steward School at noon. Meanwhile, Yorktown will be participating in the Class 6 state tournament quarterfinal game in Stafford, though the exact time is yet to be announced.

Overall, this weekend is gearing up to be an exciting one for the Arlington high school sports community as teams prepare to make their last push before transitioning into winter sports.
