The young man was promptly placed on life support as a result of the severe injuries sustained from the shooting.
An arrest has been made in relationship to the incident as reported by the Rock Hill police on Monday morning, August 26. The alleged perpetrator, named Jameson Dunham, age 20, has been taken into custody. Dunham has been charged as an accessory after the fact, although the specifics of his involvement in the tragic incident have yet to be clarified.
Dunham’s bond hearing is scheduled for Monday afternoon and is a case that will be closely followed by the local community.
The details of the incident, as they stand currently, suggest that the 18-year-old victim had been conversing to occupants of a car parked in the lot at the time the shooting took place. The authorities investigating the case believe that the shot that struck and critically injured the teenager was fired from within that same vehicle. As a consequence of the preliminary findings of the ongoing investigation, the bond for Dunham has been denied at this stage.
