Boiling Springs, N.C. – The Winthrop University baseball team secured a 9-4 victory against Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon, thanks to a dominant six-run third inning performance. The win not only sealed the series for the Eagles but also improved their overall record to 10-12, with a 4-2 standing in conference action.

The Eagles started the game strong, taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning with key contributions from Benhardt and Grossington. However, it was the explosive third inning that set Winthrop apart, as they scored six runs to extend their lead to 8-0, highlighted by a two-run homer from Hernandez.
