Rock Hill, South Carolina – Winthrop University’s baseball team split the four-game series with the Toledo Rockets with a 7-1 loss on Sunday afternoon, dropping their overall season record to 2-6.

How It Happened
The Rockets jumped to an early lead with two runs in the first inning, with Luke Walton hitting an RBI double followed by Brayden White’s RBI single. In the third inning, Wes Parker’s three-run homer extended Toledo’s lead to 5-0. Toledo scored two more runs in the fourth with RBI singles by Walton and White.
Winthrop managed to get on the board in the fifth inning, with Nicholas Badillo grounding out to bring Grossington home. The Eagles missed an opportunity to score in the seventh inning, with runners on second and third but failing to capitalize before the inning ended.
