Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop University’s baseball team is gearing up for a pivotal three-game series against USC Upstate this weekend. The Eagles are coming off a hard-fought 4-3 victory at The Citadel on Tuesday and are ready to take on USC Upstate in a Big South showdown.
This will be the 18th, 19th, and 20th meeting between the Eagles and the Spartans. While USC Upstate currently leads the overall series 10-7, Winthrop holds a 4-2 advantage in games played in Rock Hill. The rivalry dates back to their first meeting on Feb. 25, 2014.
Riley Huge, Winthrop’s standout pitcher, has been in impressive form this season. He leads the Big South in several pitching categories, including earned run average and strikeouts. Huge has already garnered multiple Big South Weekly Honors and national recognitions for his stellar performances.
Selected games, including Big South matchups, will be broadcast live on ESPN+ throughout the 2024 season. Fans can tune in to catch all the action and support the Eagles as they take on tough competition.
After the series against USC Upstate, Winthrop will head to Davidson, N.C. for a matchup with the Wildcats before returning home for a rematch with The Citadel. The Eagles are focused on continuing their winning ways and making a push in the Big South standings.
