Rock Hill-based restaurant, Blend Riverwalk has welcomed back its loyal customer base after a brief pause in services. Optimized for mothers on a stroll with their infants or those on the go for a healthy lunch, the restaurant now offers expanded hours and a breakfast menu.
Jonas van Cleef, the co-owner of the restaurant multitasks between managing daily operations and indulging in his passion for football. He and his wife Emily, already established entrepreneurs who also own a window blinds and shutters company in the city, took over the reins of Blend when the former management chose to walk away.
“Being a small business owner in Rock Hill already, I had some experience. Some people are just too nervous about the unknown. My wife and I, we just take those risks, and we’ve experienced it with the other business we have, so we were confident in ourselves,” says Jonas.
Emphasizing on the popularity of Blend Riverwalk, Jonas adds that his entire family became fans of the place. His children enjoyed it as a pre or post soccer practice meal. The couple took over when Blend closed operations, much to their sadness.
While the major emphasis of the menu remains the same, the new ownership has sought areas for further growth. Their decision to extend business hours guarantees service from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, compared to the previous timings which limited operation hours. This adaptation accommodates breakfast enthusiasts, serving create-your-own-egg bowl, breakfast sandwich or yogurt parfait, and coffee locally sourced by White Blossom Coffee.
The healthy food focussed restaurant offers salads, power bowls, wraps, sandwiches, smoothies, and acai bowls among other options. The nutritious banquet offers a create-your-own-option as well as a variety of signature entrees. With the colored people of Riverwalk and beyond already having found their love for Blend, it’s the newest additions that are setting the trend.
Jonas has some ambitious plans for Blend’s future. Working on a website and mobile app for an easier user interface, he is excited about the digital transformation that lies ahead. Customer convenience is key with plans for developing a catering menu pipeline for local businesses and events around the town.
“We want to give people that mobility because it’s always on the go, everyone is on the go,” says Jonas. He further adds, “We want to be able to be a fast service but a super healthy option that also tastes amazing.”
Blend Riverwalk located on Herrons Ferry Road, Rock Hill, SC is also reachable via food delivery apps such as DoorDash and Grubhub. With Jonas’ future plans underway, the restaurant promises a more enriching and user-friendly experience for its patrons.
The transformation of Blend Riverwalk under the new management seems to be just the start of an exciting journey for Rock Hill’s residents and the surrounding areas. Their emphasis on healthy food, extended services, and an enhanced digital presence promises a brighter future for the popular local attraction.
