The sports scene in Bloomington has been exciting this week, with several high school teams showcasing their skills across various sports.

Girls Basketball Highlights

In a standout game, the Bloomington South Panthers decisively defeated Terre Haute North with a score of 70-24. The Panthers jumped out to a commanding lead, finishing the first half at a comfortable 40-12. This win pushes their record to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in Conference Indiana.

Meanwhile, Eastern Greene secured its first victory of the season by besting Dugger Union, 58-37. Lydia Pfaff was instrumental in this win, hitting five of her team’s eight three-pointers.

The Bloomington North Cougars also had a significant win, overpowering Columbus East 71-44. With a scoring surge in the middle periods (37-12), the Cougars showed off a well-balanced offense, led by Lulu Frank with 13 points.

In a close matchup, West Vigo narrowly defeated the Owen Valley Patriots with a score of 49-44. The Patriots led at halftime but could not maintain their momentum in the second half.

In boys swimming, the Bloomington North Cougars swam to victory against East Central, securing a score of 101-69. Jay Stewart highlighted the meet with first-place finishes in both the 50 free and 100 back, while the Cougars dominated the relay events.
