Today in Madison, we have some exciting news to share. Our very own Brandon Taylor has returned to the 27 News Team as an anchor for the evening shows! After several years away from the scene, he’s back and ready to keep us informed and entertained. You might remember him from his days as the friendly face of *Wake Up Wisconsin* from 2014 to 2018.
Brandon’s Journey
Brandon’s journey in journalism is quite remarkable. He graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, back in 2007 with a degree in Communications and Journalism. Following his education, he took his first step into the industry by working at a TV station in sunny Myrtle Beach. After that, he found his way to Wisconsin, where he connected with viewers by waking them up every morning.
Now, after a few years away, Brandon is thrilled to be back “home” with the 27 Newsroom, and it’s clear that he couldn’t be happier about it! You can catch him on your screens weeknights at 5, 6, and 10 p.m. So, if you’ve missed his warm presence, mark your calendars!
Dolly Parton Steps Up for Hurricane Relief
In other impactful news, it looks like Dolly Parton is once again showing the world her huge heart! At a recent event at Walmart in Newport, Tennessee, the country music superstar announced that she’s donating a whopping one million dollars to assist with relief efforts following Hurricane Helene. For those who may not know, Newport isn’t too far from Dolly’s hometown and sadly faced severe flooding due to the hurricane.

During the announcement, Dolly expressed, “I really think that this is a time for me to step up again, for all of us to step up and do what we can.” Her heartfelt approach reminds us how important it is to support one another during tough times. Not only did she generously donate from her personal funds, but her East Tennessee businesses and the Dollywood Foundation are also getting in on the action, contributing another million dollars!

The funds are being directed to the Mountain Ways Foundation, ensuring that they reach those who need it the most, right away. And it doesn’t stop there! Walmart’s CEO joined in on the occasion, announcing an impressive donation of 10 million dollars for hurricane relief efforts across various affected states. It’s a true testament to the power of community and the kindness we can extend to each other.
