Exciting news for LEGO fans and families in Fort Mill! A brand-new Bricks & Minifigs store is set to open its colorful doors this spring, right in the heart of downtown Fort Mill. Located at 221 Main St., this vibrant new shop is part of a recent renovation by Kuester Commercial and promises to be a fun destination for both young builders and seasoned LEGO enthusiasts alike.
One of the key reasons behind the opening of this store is the charming atmosphere of downtown Fort Mill. The owners, Dave Hipp and his wife, Tara, were particularly attracted to the area’s lively vibe and bustling foot traffic—places where people gather, shop, and enjoy community events. The couple moved to Fort Mill from Oklahoma and found the local school district to be a big draw for families looking to settle down. It’s clear that they’re excited to contribute to the community they’ve grown to love.
So, what can you expect when you walk into Bricks & Minifigs? First of all, this place isn’t just about buying LEGO sets; it’s a certified new and used LEGO resale outlet! This means you can bring in your old sets and trade them for something new—talk about a win-win! They’ll have everything from the latest LEGO collections to vintage gems just waiting to be discovered. In addition, you will find an array of LEGO-related merchandise like backpacks, cups, and even third-party compatible items to give your builds an extra flair.
One of the most exciting features of the store will be its spacious 2,500-square-foot layout which includes a dedicated party room! This party space can accommodate around 15 guests, making it perfect for events, summer camps, robotics lessons, and even small group building projects. And if that’s not enough, there will be a racetrack complete with a timer for guests to race their very own LEGO racecars. Now that’s some serious fun that will surely spark joy and creativity!
Interestingly, this venture came about after the Hipps developed a deep passion for LEGO in the last three years. It all started with a special Christmas gift—a Millennium Falcon set that ignited their love for building. With a collection that boasts over 150 Star Wars and Disney sets, it’s clear that the couple enjoys immersing themselves in this vibrant world. Their excitement about the upcoming store is palpable, and they can’t wait to share this love with the community.
Currently, there are around 190 Bricks & Minifigs locations across the United States, with existing stores in places like Charleston, Clemson, Greenville, and Myrtle Beach. The Hipps have already explored about 20 different locations before finally settling on their ideal spot in Fort Mill. As they gear up for a soft opening in early May, followed by a grand opening celebration in mid-May that will include games, giveaways, and engaging activities, they express hope for future expansion of the Bricks & Minifigs brand in the region. It seems this store is just the beginning of something much bigger!
Bricks & Minifigs aims to draw in a diverse crowd, welcoming children, teenagers, young adults, and even adult enthusiasts into the fold. The Hipps are eager to create a gathering space for those who share the same joy of building and imagination, contributing to the thriving community of Fort Mill.
As we look forward to the grand opening this spring, it’s clear that the Bricks & Minifigs store is set to become a beloved part of downtown Fort Mill. So grab your friends and family, and get ready to build some unforgettable memories!
