This cutting-edge cafe and adoption center situated on North Anderson Road has nestled into the town’s heart within a month of its grand opening.
More Than Just a Cafe – A Furry Family
Inga Carey, a 39-year-old music teacher and the founder, hopes to find homes for 100 cats by the end of the year through this endeavor. Despite cloudy skies and sporadic rain showers with thirty percent chances throughout the day, the safe haven for furry friends shone brightly, accepting warmth and love from its visitors.
“Both my parents passed away between 2020 and 2021,” said Carey, her voice filled with emotion. “I felt like I needed to do something good for the community, something positive out of all that negativity.”
A Safe Space for Stray Cats
Approximately a dozen endearing felines inhabit this innovatively designed coffee shop and waiting adoption center, with ten cats already finding new home since the cafe’s opening. Some of the renowned inhabitants include Catafornia Roll, who seemed to enjoy lazing over the bean bag, while Verde was caught smitten, sniffing Catafornia’s ear.
It is not just the coffee that attracts visitors; a window view into the cat lounge filled with plush toys and scratch posts keep them entertained, promoting an environment where humans and cats could mingle freely. This unique design was made with the hope that many people who may not have considered pet adoption before may change their minds after visiting.
Supporting the Local Humane Society
At a time when shelters are overloaded and euthanasia rates are reaching disturbingly high levels for the first time in decades, businesses like Purrfect Pair Cat Cafe are more vital than ever. The coffee shop not just offers a place for abandoned cats to rest and play, but also functions as a tender beacon of hope for rescue pets systemically available through collaborations with the Humane Society of York County.
Helping Felines Find Forever Homes
The Purrfect Pair Cat Cafe has already fostered ten cats to their new homes, with thirteen more currently housed and awaiting their turn for adoption. This cafe is one of a kind, placing York County on the map along with nearly 200 other cat cafes dotting the country.
Inga Carey, the vision behind Purrfect Pair, has been inspired by her visits to 55 cat cafes across the country; with each visit, she imbibed best practices and innovative ideas, which she has brought to life in Rock Hill.
Admission to Purrfect Pair
While the café has stringent protocols to keep its dining area hygienic and separate from the cat room, it welcomes cat lovers with flexible admission charges – $10 for 30 minutes or $13 for an hour.
The café has already become popular among families who yearn for feline companionship but cannot keep cats in their homes due to allergies, travel, or other reasons. What started as Carey’s mourning project in the memory of her parents soon began uplifting lives one cat at a time.
