Charlotte Braces for Winter Weather: Local Businesses Make Adjustments

Hey Charlotte! It looks like we’re in for a bit of winter weather this weekend. Meteorologists are predicting up to 2 inches of snow for our area along with sleet, ice, and freezing rain on Friday and Saturday. It’s definitely going to impact our community, as many local restaurants, entertainment venues, and small businesses are starting to close or change their hours to keep everyone safe.

What’s Closed or Adjusted?

If you’re planning to head out this weekend, it’s a good idea to check social media or call ahead to make sure your favorite spots are still open. To make things easier, we’ve rounded up some of the places you need to know about:

  • 6815 Phillips Pl Ct, Charlotte, NC 28210: Closing at 5 p.m. on Friday, January 10.
  • 901 Berryhill Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208: Closing Friday, January 10, at 4 p.m. and will be closed on Saturday, January 11.
  • 305 McGill Ave, Concord, NC 28025: Closed Friday, January 10.
  • 2710 N Brevard St, Charlotte, NC 28205: Closed Friday, January 10.
  • 700 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202: All weekend shows are canceled.
  • Multiple Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches: Closed on Friday, January 10, starting at 12 p.m. and all day Saturday.
  • Charlotte Museum of History: Their discussion on Saturday is moving to Zoom, keep an eye on their social media!
  • Queen Park Social: Saturday’s vintage market is rescheduled for Sunday, January 12, from noon to 5 p.m.
  • Comedy Arts Theater of CLT: Friday night’s show is canceled but they will have an improv night on Saturday, January 11.
  • Community Culinary School: Closed until Monday, January 13, due to a water main break.
  • Parks and Recreation Centers: All will close at noon on Friday, January 10 and remain closed on Saturday.

Take Precautions!

In addition to the adjustments at various businesses, Charlotte-area schools are also announcing closures for Friday, so make sure to check for updates if you have kiddos in school.

Plan for Indoor Fun!

If you find yourself stuck at home, why not take this time to cozy up with a good book from the library’s online catalog? Or put your feet up and binge-watch that series you’ve been meaning to catch up on! There is always some silver lining to these snow days. A warm cup of cocoa with marshmallows sounds just about perfect.

Looking Forward

As the snow starts falling, remember that safety is the top priority. So, be sure to stay indoors, take precautions if you need to go out, and keep your eyes peeled for any further updates from your favorite businesses. Join this community in keeping warm and safe by checking on your neighbors and friends as well!

Stay Updated!

Keep an eye on your social media for the latest updates from local businesses and events. And most importantly, enjoy the winter wonderland from the comfort of your own home as much as you can! Let’s embrace this chilly weather and make the best of it.
