Winter Weather Wrapping Up Charlotte

Meteorologists are forecasting up to 2 inches of snow in the area, not to mention some potential sleet, ice, and freezing rain. With the icy conditions expected on Friday and Saturday, many businesses around town are taking precautions by either closing early, adjusting their hours, or postponing scheduled events.

If you have plans this weekend, it’s a good idea to check your favorite spots on social media to see if they’re open. Here’s a handy list of local businesses and events that have made adjustments due to the incoming winter weather:

Early Closures

Location: 901 Berryhill Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208 – Status: Closing Friday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. and closed Saturday, Jan. 11.
Location: 305 McGill Ave, Concord, NC 28025 – Status: Closed Friday, Jan. 10.
Multiple Locations: Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches – Status: Closed on Friday, Jan. 10, from 12 p.m. and also on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Location: 700 N Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28202 – Status: Canceled all weekend shows.
Location: 3700 Shamrock Dr, Charlotte, NC 28215 – Status: Reopening Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. after an early closure.

Postponements

Location: Queen Park Social, 4125 Yancey Rd, Charlotte, NC 28217 – Status: Saturday’s Charlotte Vintage Market event has been postponed until Sunday, Jan. 12, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Location: The Independent Picture House – Status: Postponed the free Family Cartoons event from Jan. 11 to Jan. 18.
Location: Neighborhood Theatre in NoDa – Status: Postponed the concert scheduled for Jan. 10, with a new date to be announced.
Location: The Gem Theatre in Kannapolis – Status: Closed on Friday, Jan. 10; refunds will be issued for ticket holders.

Limitations and Reminders

Location: 4409 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28208 – Status: Closed Friday, Jan. 10.
Location: 1115 N Brevard St, Charlotte, NC 28206 – Status: Optimist Hall will close at 9 p.m. and reopen at noon on Saturday, Jan. 11.
Location: 1636 Sardis Rd N, Charlotte, NC 28270 – Status: Closed Friday at 4 p.m. and reopening Saturday at 1 p.m.
All parks and recreation centers in the area are closing at 12 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, and will stay closed all day Saturday as well.
