In a shocking incident that took place in Indian Land, South Carolina, two suspects have been identified in connection with a violent assault on a Chipotle employee. The individuals have been named as 36-year-old Jamel Bernard Williams and 34-year-old Kayla Nicole Pyle.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of December 10th at a Chipotle restaurant. Reports suggest that Pyle had entered the restaurant and placed an order. Subsequently, a disagreement over the order ensued between Pyle and the 20-year-old female employee which led to a heated exchange of words.
The aggravated employee decided to call it a day and leave the premises. However, as she was leaving, Williams, significantly larger in size, entered from the opposite side of the dining area and confronted the victim. According to local authorities, Williams proceeded to push the victim to the floor, followed by a violent onslaught that included striking, hair-pulling, and violently jerking the victim around. Pyle then joined in and launched her own assault on the already overwhelmed victim.
A juvenile male was present with the accused during the incident but has not been identified. However, he will not face any charges, as confirmed by the sherrif’s deputies.
Subsequent to the altercation, the victim complained of pain but declined immediate medical attention at the site. However, she sought medical treatment of her own accord later, with the details of her injuries still unknown.
With the assistance of some personnel from the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, along with descriptions provided by witnesses and surveillance footage, the perpetrators – Williams and Pyle – were successfully identified. Arrest warrants were issued for the duo on December 27th, charging Williams with 1st Degree Assault and Battery, and Pyle with 2nd Degree Assault and Battery.
Commenting on the incident, Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile underscored that irrespective of the disagreement that sparked the altercation, the assault was completely unjustified. He expressed hope that the victim was recovering from her ordeal and extended his appreciation to the Charlotte Mecklenburg PD for their crucial help in identifying the suspects. Sheriff Faile concluded by encouraging the accused to turn themselves in and let the judicial system take its course.
