Cincinnati High School Football Week 3 Recap: Unbeaten Showdowns and Last-Minute Victories

This week in Cincinnati, the high school football scene lit up with exciting matchups as teams entered Week 3 of the season. A highlight of the weekend was the showdown between Milford and Winton Woods, both coming into the game undefeated. Meanwhile, Lakota West faced off against Princeton in a crucial game that could decide the outcome of the Greater Miami Conference.

Several teams that had strong playoff runs last year, like Withrow, Badin, and Waynesville, were still searching for their first wins of the current season. In case you missed it, Talawanda struggled against Eaton, allowing 342 yards of offense and 28 unanswered points before finally getting on the board in the final minutes. Talawanda’s quarterback, Cale Leitch, completed 16 out of 30 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown.

In a dominating display, Wyoming crushed Bethel-Tate with a score of 45-13, thanks to Joel Hancock’s four touchdowns in the first half. Hancock rushed for 259 yards, proving to be a key player for the Cowboys. Meanwhile, Moeller rolled past East Central, leading 35-0 at halftime, ending in a 42-13 score, with Matt Ponatoski throwing three touchdown passes.

Anderson continued their scoring spree, defeating Little Miami with an impressive 64-0 score, marking over 50 points in each of their games this season so far. Justice Burnam was a standout, throwing for four touchdowns and adding two rushing scores.

The competition was fierce, and Princeton managed to squeeze out a narrow win over Lakota West with a final score of 14-6. Princeton’s Deangelo Birch proved his worth by throwing for a touchdown, while the Viking defense limited Lakota West to just two field goals.

The late games did not disappoint, with St. Xavier pulling off a last-minute victory against Indianapolis Cathedral, winning 35-31 after scoring the game-winning touchdown with only 14 seconds left on the clock.

This batch of games has set the tone for the rest of the season, with several teams showing promise while others look to find their rhythm. As Cincinnati high school football continues, fans can look forward to more thrilling action in the weeks to come.
