York County, SC: Applications Open for 2025 Citizen’s Police Academy

The York County Sheriff’s Office is now inviting residents to apply for the 2025 Citizen’s Police Academy. This program aims to foster a stronger partnership between the Sheriff’s Office and the community.

What to Expect

The academy consists of seven sessions held on Monday evenings from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Classes will take place at the Moss Justice Center in York, as well as various facilities operated by the York County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO). The program is set to kick off on February 10th, 2025, and will conclude with a formal graduation ceremony on March 31st, 2025.

Learning and Involvement

Participants will be introduced to the numerous functions of the York County Sheriff’s Office. Classes will include instruction from various divisions. The academy’s primary objective is to enhance understanding and communication between citizens and law enforcement, effectively allowing the Sheriff’s Office to serve residents more efficiently.

Eligibility and Application Process

The Citizen’s Police Academy is open to adults who are at least 18 years old. Moreover, the program is provided free of charge. However, class size is limited to the first 30 approved applicants. Interested individuals can submit applications until January 13th, 2025, or until the class reaches its maximum capacity.
