As the high school football season heats up, Cleveland teams showed impressive performances in Week 9. Here’s a look at how the teams ranked in the cleveland.com high school football Top 25 fared over the weekend.

Starting off on Thursday, Walsh Jesuit edged out Youngstown Ursuline in a close match, winning 37 to 35. In another game, No. 20 Chardon dominated Orlando Timber Creek from Florida with a solid score of 29 to 7.

Friday night featured several exciting matchups. No. 1 Archbishop Hoban faced a tough challenge but fell to Severn Archbishop Spalding from Maryland, 28 to 14. Meanwhile, No. 2 St. Edward secured a decisive victory over Pickerington North, winning 28 to 0.

No. 3 Avon showcased their skills against No. 6 St. Ignatius, coming out on top with a convincing score of 42 to 21. Cleveland Heights earned a narrow victory over Trotwood-Madison, winning 6 to 0, while No. 5 Mentor beat Massillon Jackson by a score of 36 to 13.

Other notable games included No. 7 Glenville shutting out Upper Arlington 6 to 0, and No. 8 Wadsworth overpowering Barberton with a score of 42 to 0. Villa Angela-St. Joseph also had a commanding win against Canton GlenOak, finishing 42 to 7.

Rounding out the weekend, No. 11 Highland faced No. 12 Hudson in a close contest, winning 31 to 24. No. 13 Medina dominated Stow, 42 to 14; while No. 14 Kirtland stayed strong, defeating Dalton 55 to 34.

North Ridgeville kept up their winning streak with a huge victory over North Olmsted at 48 to 0. In other matches, Dover edged out No. 16 Green, 28 to 24, and No. 17 Nordonia triumphed over Bedford with a score of 41 to 6.

Lastly, No. 18 Avon Lake secured a win against Strongsville, finishing 21 to 12, while No. 19 Perry defeated Madison 42 to 10. In contrasting results, No. 21 Lake Catholic managed a 14 to 0 victory over Youngstown Cardinal Mooney, while Youngstown Boardman won a thrilling match against No. 22 Kenston, finishing 19 to 18.

In other highlights, No. 23 Olmsted Falls clinched a narrow victory over Solon, 16 to 13, while No. 24 Aurora also claimed a decisive win against Twinsburg, beating them 42 to 6. Finally, No. 25 Shaker Heights took home a 28 to 14 victory over Willoughby South.
