Residents of Clover, South Carolina, can look forward to significant developments in the local education sector in the coming years. In a significant move, the Clover School District has progressed towards the construction phase of three new schools scheduled to open their doors in the 2026 and 2027 academic years.
Benefitting from a $156-million dollar bond passed by voters in 2022, the planned schools include a second high school, a third middle school which will take over the district’s current ninth-grade campus, and an eighth elementary school. This marks a major step in enhancing the educational infrastructure and opportunities available in this South Carolina town.
Following the receipt of “conditional approval” on site plans, the district can now initiate the grading process for the property which will house both the new high school and elementary school located at Cannonball Run in Clover. This approval is seen as a breakthrough as it allows for the commencement of site preparation work, currently displaying a thick cover of trees.
Highlighting the development, the District Public Information Officer said, “We do have conditional approval for our site plans which means we are going to be able to go ahead and start that grading process and start moving dirt and really get that site ready for the building process.”
As the physical construction of the new schools inches forward, the Clover School District is also set to tackle the task of naming the new educational facilities and selecting corresponding mascots. The district plans to take into account the opinions of the local community, launching surveys and focus groups to gather feedback.
The names and mascots suggested through these mediums will then be assessed by district staff before a final selection process by the school board slated for a meeting on January 29th. It is important to note that this decision-making process is separate from final branding choices such as color and style, which will be determined at a later date.
As the Clover School District moves closer to bringing more educational opportunities to its community, the anticipation and excitement continue to build amongst residents.
