College Football Roundup: Georgia’s Narrow Win, LSU’s Last-Minute Heroics, and Memphis Shocks Florida State

In Columbia, Georgia managed to pull off a narrow victory against Kentucky with a score of 13-12. This game was a defensive showdown, where Kentucky was leading 9-6 by the end of the third quarter. The tide turned in the fourth quarter when Branson Robinson of Georgia scored on a 3-yard touchdown run. The Wildcats tried to close the gap with another field goal but couldn’t find the end zone. A fumble recovery late in the game allowed Georgia to secure an important first down, ensuring their unbeaten streak continued.

In another thrilling contest, LSU faced off against South Carolina and snagged a 36-33 win just as the clock expired. Things looked grim for LSU initially—they found themselves down by 17 points in the first quarter. However, they managed to pull it together and scored back-to-back touchdowns in the second half. A pivotal moment came when LSU’s quarterback Garrett Nussmeier threw an interception, which was luckily called back due to a personal foul. Nussmeier recovered and led a quick scoring drive that sealed their last-minute lead. South Carolina’s kicker Alex Herrera nearly sent the game into overtime but missed a 49-yard field goal attempt at the end.

Meanwhile, in Columbia, Missouri held off Boston College to secure a 27-21 win. The game started in favor of the Eagles, who jumped to a quick lead. However, the Tigers rallied by scoring 24 unanswered points, showcasing quarterback Brady Cook‘s solid performance.

Memphis also shocked Florida State with a 20-12 victory, starting strong by forcing a fumble right at the game’s outset. They continued to capitalize on opportunities, keeping Florida State scoreless for a large part of the match, which led to the Seminoles dropping to an unexpected 0-3 record. Others like Toledo dominated Mississippi State, highlighting a successful day for many teams across college football.
