CHARLOTTESVILLE, Virginia – As the new college golf season begins, Golf Channel’s Brentley Romine has shared his preseason rankings for both teams and individual players. This annual update serves as a guide to the top college golf programs in the nation, highlighting the best players, their projected lineups, and notable newcomers in the sport.
This year, the top spot goes to Stanford University, who recently claimed their third NCAA team title. The Cardinal will be looking to fill the shoes of some key players, including Rachel Heck and Sadie Englemann, but they appear well-equipped with a standout recruiting class. Newcomers like Andrea Revuelta, who is ranked ninth in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, and Meja Ortengren are expected to make significant contributions. The projected starting lineup features returning players such as Paula Martin Sampedro and Kelly Xu, both of whom had impressive seasons last year.
In the second position, Texas is prepared for a strong showing under new head coach Laura Ianello. The Longhorns boast a talented roster with promising sophomores like Farah O’Keefe and Lauren Kim. O’Keefe previously impressed by winning the Women’s Western Amateur, which has set high expectations for her performance this season.
USC rounds out the top three, benefiting from a solid roster that includes Catherine Park, who had an outstanding season with multiple wins, and talented newcomers like Jasmine Koo. The Trojans are determined to keep their momentum going after a semifinal finish last season.
Upcoming dates for college golf enthusiasts include the NCAA regionals taking place from May 5-7, 2024, across several host sites, including Birdwood Golf Club in Charlottesville and Superstition Mountain Golf Club in Arizona. The NCAA Championship is set for May 16-21, 2025, at the Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.
As we continue to follow the development of players and teams, this season promises to be an exciting one for college golf. Keep an eye on rising stars and strong college programs as they vie for national recognition and championships throughout the year.
