Columbia, South Carolina – As the high school football playoffs continue across South Carolina, teams are battling for the chance to earn a spot in the championship games set for November 22 and 23. The weekend saw significant wins and upsets across various classifications of play, including Class 5A through Class A.
In Class 5A Division I, the Upper State bracket saw strong performances from several teams. Notably, River Bluff defeated Mauldin decisively with a score of 36-6. Boiling Springs also secured a place in the next round after shutting out Dorman 32-0. Other results included Clover winning 31-28 against Blythewood and Byrnes taking down Lexington 32-11.
Meanwhile, in the Lower State, Fort Dorchester overcame Stratford with a score of 20-10, while Cane Bay delivered a remarkable performance, defeating Spring Valley 55-14. Sumter triumphed over Ashley Ridge decisively with a score of 51-13, securing their place in the next round.
As the playoffs proceed, the next matchups on November 22 feature Boiling Springs at Dutch Fork, River Bluff at Rock Hill, Clover at JL Mann, and Byrnes at Spartanburg in the Upper State. In the Lower State, Fort Dorchester is set to face Summerville, Ridge View will challenge Cane Bay, James Island takes on Carolina Forest, and Ashley Ridge goes up against Sumter.
In Class 5A Division II, the Upper State saw Northwestern earning a bye while Indian Land defeated Eastside 34-7. Hillcrest crushed Nation Ford 48-23 to move on, and Gaffney overcame Riverside with a score of 47-38.
On the other side, Irmo had a bye, with Chapin narrowly edging out Goose Creek 17-16. North Myrtle Beach dominated Lucy Beckham 42-28, and Berkeley defeated Westwood 34-14.
Upcoming matches on November 22 include Indian Land at Northwestern and Hillcrest at Greenwood in the Upper State, while the Lower State features Chapin facing Irmo and North Myrtle Beach going up against West Florence.
In Class 4A, the top seed Westside won decisively against Lakewood, posting a score of 55-0. AC Flora and Camden also advanced, defeating Emerald and Pickens, respectively. The upcoming matches promise exciting matchups, particularly with AC Flora squaring off against Westside.
Likewise, Hartsville dominated Beaufort with a score of 45-21 in the Lower State, while South Florence delivered a solid victory against Brookland-Cayce with a 56-20 scoreline.
In Class 3A, Mountain View Prep posted a notable win of 42-0 over Carolina. Upcoming matches for Class 3A include Walhalla at Belton-Honea Path.
Also noteworthy, Class 2A and A have shown impressive matches. For instance, Clinton dominated Pelion 56-0 and Chester defeated Strom Thurmond 44-23. The busy playoff schedule will also feature matches for these classes over the weekend.
