Dank Burrito, the chef-driven North-Carolina-born food establishment, aims to introduce its first location in Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 2024. The new restaurant, located at 343 Technology Center Way, Suite 108, close to the Rock Hill Sports & Event Center, will operate under the franchise agreement signed last year.
Founded in 2014 by chef Clarke Merrell, the head of 81 Hospitality Group, Dank Burrito began as a food truck in Morehead City, North Carolina. It quickly gained popularity due to its unique and refreshing menu, earning the title of National Food Truck Rookie of the Year. This earned reputation led Dank Burrito to open their first brick-and-mortar location in Morehead City in 2015, followed by another one in Raleigh’s Transfer Co. Food Hall in 2019.
Dank Burrito’s unique concept revolves around a fusion of international flavors with fine dining techniques, aiming to create an unforgettable gustatory experience. Incorporation of urban aesthetics, hip hop, graffiti, and global street food influences makes Dank Burrito distinct from the typical Tex-Mex burrito joints. Clarke Merrell, the owner, promises a renewed dining experience filled with “flavor-bomb burritos, tacos, and bowls”.
The Rock Hill location spans approximately 3,300 square feet, with a seating capacity for 75 inside and an additional 25-30 outside. The family-friendly space is equipped with television sets broadcasting local sports, diverse music selection, and features local artists’ works. Moreover, the location will have five craft beers on-tap, alongside a variety of cans, seltzers, and wine.
Rock Hill is only the first among several other planned franchises across the Southeastern United States, specifically targeting the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. The long-term goal, as per Merrell, is to spread the brand further west.
Dank Burrito’s distinctive menu is one of its main attractions. Their specialties include the Danksgiving Burrito, Cheerwine Beef Quesadilla, Nashville Hot Chicken Burrito, and many more. The menu features street food-inspired flavor profiles, available as burritos, bowls, or tacos. Some popular picks are:
The Rock Hill restaurant plans to open to the public in early January 2024. Until then, diners can explore their offerings via the Dank Burrito app and enroll in Dankster Rewards for periodic updates on deals, catering options, and more.
