DE PERE – In an exciting finish, the Denmark High School girls’ golf team came out on top, winning the team title by just two shots over Freedom in the latest conference match held at Mid Vallee. Denmark shot a total score of 406, narrowly beating Freedom, who finished with 408. Winneconne took third place with a score of 413.
The standout performance in the tournament came from Kay Lee McClintock of Freedom, who clinched the individual medalist honors by shooting a 91. Denmark’s own Whitney Derricks led her team with a score of 99. Alongside Derricks, teammates Shaelyn Kraschnewski and Katelyn Shedlosky also played well, scoring 100 and 101 respectively.
Several individual players also qualified for the sectional meet, which is set for October 8 at Crystal Springs in Seymour. The advancing players include Caroline Vanden Heuvel of Xavier, Callaway Goodman from Kiel, and Amelia Eiting of Little Chute. They will compete alongside the top teams at the sectional meet.
The other team scores recorded were: Little Chute at 419, Wrightstown with 426, Xavier scoring 435, and Kiel at 444. The competition showed a strong performance from all the schools involved, but Denmark’s final tally secured them the championship.
The upcoming sectional meet promises to be thrilling, as the best performers from this competition look to advance even further in their golf careers. Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses!
