Rock Hill, SC — A late-night drug deal led to a shooting that left one man critically wounded and two others facing serious legal charges. The incident unfolded early Sunday morning in a parking lot located on Saluda Street.
According to investigators from the Rock Hill Police Department, the wounded individual, a 21-year-old man whose identity has not been disclosed, confronted two others in an attempt to rob them. The alleged robbery was during an arranged marijuana transaction after midnight.
The two men who were approached by the victim have been identified as Demetris Maurice Franklin, 19, and Christopher King Boyd, 21. Police report that during the confrontation, Franklin shot the would-be robber. The injured man sustained critical injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.
Franklin faces multiple charges, including assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Similarly, Boyd is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
The shooting took place in the parking lot of a business on Saluda Street in Rock Hill, just after midnight on Sunday. Emergency services were alerted following the incident, leading to a swift response from local authorities.
