Duncanville witnessed an electrifying high school football showdown on Saturday evening as the Duncanville Panthers faced off against St. Frances Academy from Maryland. The game took place at the Duncanville ISD’s Panther Stadium with kickoff set for 6 p.m. and was streamed live for fans. These two teams, both nationally ranked, provided an action-packed contest that kept spectators on the edge of their seats.
After a hard-fought battle, the Duncanville Panthers came out on top, clinching a narrow 28-24 victory. With this win, the Panthers improved their record to 2-0. In the decisive moments of the game, Duncanville’s defense shined when linebacker Nehemiah Borner delivered back-to-back sacks, helping his team hold their ground with only 33 seconds left on the clock and St. Frances out of timeouts.
The game was full of twists and turns. St. Frances Academy initially took a late lead thanks to a touchdown by Maurice Medley, who dashed into the end zone from a yard away. However, Duncanville responded swiftly. Quarterback Keelon Russell threw a precision pass to Zach Turner for a 22-yard touchdown, which ultimately put the Panthers ahead once more. A successful PAT by Jonathan Batres gave them a crucial four-point advantage.
Throughout the game, both teams showed their offensive and defensive skills. Despite having less total yardage, St. Frances managed to stay competitive. Notably, Duncanville’s defense forced turnovers, including a pivotal interception by Tyren Polley.
