Charlotte, N.C. – The Winthrop baseball program received notable recognition as the 2024 Big South all-conference teams were announced on Wednesday morning.
Riley Huge and Parker Kruglewicz were named to the second team, highlighting Winthrop’s presence in the conference honors. Huge, finishing the year with impressive stats, tied for 10th in the nation in strikeouts with 111. His standout performance included a remarkable game against Maine on Mar. 2, where he recorded a staggering 20 strikeouts, breaking a long-standing record. Meanwhile, Kruglewicz shared the limelight, tying for 1st in saves in the Big South.
Joining the honors were Jaylen Hernandez and Owen Sarna, reflecting Winthrop’s promising young talent. Hernandez, with a standout freshman season, showcased his skills by finishing tied for 7th in doubles in the Big South. Sarna, on the other hand, made his mark by excelling in pitching, securing the 9th position in the Big South for overall pitching.
Parker Whittle added to the accolades by being named to the all-academic team for the second consecutive year, exemplifying excellence both on and off the field.
