Coming off a strong performance to end the regular season with a victory over Gardner-Webb, Winthrop women’s basketball team gears up to face Radford in the quarterfinals of the Hercules Tires Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Championship. The game is set to take place at the Qubein Center on the campus of High Point University in High Point, N.C. on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. The match will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
This will be the 89th meeting between the Eagles and the Highlanders, with Radford leading the series 68-20. The first encounter between the two teams dates back to Jan. 19, 1984, with Radford emerging victorious. However, Winthrop has won four of the last seven encounters, including a split in two meetings this season.
In their previous game, Winthrop secured a convincing 72-54 victory over Gardner-Webb, marking a successful end to the regular season. The Eagles displayed strong performances across the board, showcasing their prowess on both ends of the court.
If Winthrop secures a victory against Radford, they will advance to face the winner of USC Upstate and Longwood on Saturday, Mar. 9 at 8 p.m., also on ESPN+.
